The room featured a cozy, high-ceiling design with elegant dark wood that added character. It offered a good selection of real ales at the bar, and the beds provided a comfortable sleeping experience.

Noise from upstairs and the kitchen below made it tricky to unwind after long walks, especially with sound carrying through the building. The food left much to be desired. Breakfast scrambled eggs were overcooked and uninspiring, and dinner choices didn’t meet expectations for the area's dining options. A recent painting project in the evenings intruded into nighttime peace, catching me off guard. Some decor feels outdated, especially the bathrooms, which could use a refresh.

A welcoming atmosphere was felt right from our arrival, with very friendly staff ensuring all our needs were met. The food was a highlight, especially the homemade muffins, which were delightful. Our room was clean and comfortable, perfect for enjoying the beautiful surroundings. noise during early mornings was a slight downside, and I wished for a more extensive vegetarian breakfast option to suit all preferences. I wish we could have stayed longer.

The gluten-free options were fantastic, and the individually wrapped brownies were a delightful surprise. The chef's personal touch gave us confidence in our meal selections.

Comfortable stay with a lovely view

I stayed with my family for two nights and found the location absolutely ideal, right next to the train station and within easy reach of beautiful hikes. Our twin room was cozy and offered a fantastic view of the hills, making for a peaceful retreat after a day outdoors. The hearty breakfast options were delicious and set us up for our hikes, although there was a slight delay in service during busy times which could be improved.

great location but needs better maintenance

I enjoyed the stunning mountain view from our room. The lovely walks in the Peak District start right outside the door.

The room required a bit more attention to cleanliness.
